Built in 1686 there are are many myths and legends associated with this hexagonal chapel, that sits in the sea, you can read more about it HERE. My purpose in visiting was purely to try and get some good photos. I have seen some wonderful photos online, there are some in that link, and although I couldn’t hope to come up to those standards with just a phone I gave it my best shot.
Last week the Sunday Snippet was about the boardwalk that follows the shoreline close to where I am staying. The Capela do Senhor da Pedra is one of the main attractions along the boardwalk. I didn’t manage to get to it last time I was here so I was determined to make it this time.
On the way……
I walked part of the way, stopped for lunch at a small cafe to rest, had another excellent lunch for €6.00, and then continued on my way. I knew I would have to either get an Uber home or figure out buses. In the end I opted for an Uber because looking at public transport it seemed I would have to go on a very long and convoluted route to get home.
The €6.00 Lunch
As I approached I was worried that the tide was too far in, I could see the spray of the waves crashing over the roof of the chapel. However, by the time I arrived I was able to gain access although my shoes did get a bit wet!
I think, to get the perfect shot you would need to study tides and the times of sunrise and sunset, because with the sun in the right position it would be stunning. I don’t think I did too badly though. I hope you enjoy these photos.
